January catch-up

This time of year is tough for the El Paso Murphys.  My work is in the busiest time of year.  Ken's work is in his busiest time of year.  Recruiting, travel, winter practices (EARLY in the morning), and spring tournaments keep us busy from 6am until we fall into bed at or before 10pm.  We counted exactly 3 weekends we will both be home at the same time between mid-January and the end of April.  All college volleyball people look forward to May, which is a "quiet" recruiting period - it means they aren't allowed to go recruiting.  Which also means no work events for me.  So - we're just chugging through it as best we can - oh - and baby on the way in May!  He, YES, I SAID HE (we have undeniable proof!) - is due on May 8, Mother's Day.  But doc said that since Makenna was born via C-Section, this little guy will be also.  That will be around 39 weeks, May 2ish I figure.  I suppose we ought to get a few things ready - some blue clothes and blue decorations in the nursery.  Mak will move into a big girl room, we're not sure if she's quite ready for that.

Anyways, here's what happened in January and the first few days in February.
Lots of playing in the yard.
Lots of chasing "AAAA-EEEEEEEE" (Ollie).

A new bike for Christmas from Uncle Mike and Aunt Jody!
(Can't quite reach the pedals, but she still loves it!)
Helping Papa in the yard.
The great freeze of February 2011!  This week brought some crazy weather to El Paso!  Tuesday night it started snowing.  Wednesday, most schools and govt offices closed through Friday.  Thursday, the temperature dropped below 0, our gas and heat went out in the morning.  Makenna snuggled in a blanket and watched a movie.  Heat returned in the afternoon.  Ken left for Canada, then I noticed puddles of water in our backyard.  Pipe burst.  Turned off main water to the house.  Called a plumber.  Fixed the pipe on Friday afternoon.  But pilot light is out in the water heater, and I can't get it back on.  So, no hot water still!  But temps are back into the 50's today, and things are looking better.
Makenna put on the headband and tutu all by herself!  Playing dress up on another cold morning.
